As a result, the World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer Research recommend that people should eat as following:

1. Eat 400 - 800 grams a day of a variety of vegetables and fruits.
2. Limit intake of red meat from large animals to less than 80 grams daily. It is preferable to choose meat from small animals such as fish or poultry in place of red meat.
3. Eat protein-rich foods of plant origin such as legumes and cereals.
4. Eat starchy staple food which is whole wheat bread (unpolished rice).
5. Take fats from plant origin (avoid milk and butter).
6. Salt from all sources should amount to less than 6 grams/day for adults
7. Consumption of alcohol is not recommended.
8. Limit weight gain during adulthood to less than 5 kg.
9. Exercise vigorously for a total of at least one hour in a week (if divided into 3 times, each time takes 20 minutes.)

1. Beware of the chemical contaminants in the food supply.
2. Do not eat the leftovers or food with molds. Keep foods in the refrigerator.
3. Limit the amount of grilled (broiled) foods which are overburnt.

The conference of the World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer Research at the end of the year 1999 has suggested government and private organizations to publicize the recommendations stated above and persuade people in their countries to change habitual consumption to prevent cancer before they will have to suffer from this disease which requires a lot of money for the treatments.

We can see that the process to prevent cancer needs a lot of changes in habitual consumption.
