Liver Detoxification
The liver is a very
huge organ in the body. It normally weights between 1-1.33 kilograms,
and is about a football size. It is wedge-shaped, reddish-brown
and sits immediately under the diaphragm on the right side of the
upper abdomen. The liver has more than 40 functions which are essential
for supporting life and another over 500 minor functions. Therefore,
the liver is the most crucial organ in the body and we can't live
without it. In addition, the liver has a special ability to reproduce
new tissues to substitute for the damage ones.

Functions of the
liver
The liver is capable
of working very hard and has a lot of patience. Although it is damaged
in some parts, it would give no sign of being damaged until more
than 80% of its working ability is reduced. Symptoms showing damages
of the liver are indigestion, bloated stomach, bitter tastes, yellow
skin, pale excrement, and lower right ribs ache, etc. This is probably
because the liver doesn't stay in motion. It doesn't beat like the
heart or make a noise like the bowel. Thus, many people think it
is not very important.
One of the major roles
of the liver is to detoxify drugs or waste from the body.
The toxins after filtered
that can be dissolved in the water will be removed through the kidney
and the ones dissolved in fat will be excreted together with the
bile.
The detoxification of
drugs can be divided into 2 phases.
Waste from metabolism
or any unwanted chemical compounds that the body receives are sent
to the liver to be removed. Thus, the body is being cleaned at all
times. To conclude, the function of detoxification of the liver
is very essential to one's health and life.
The liver detoxifies
drugs in 2 phases and these 2 phases must be completed one by one
in order to remove toxins from the body.
Phase I
Phase I detoxification
of most chemical toxins involves a group of enzymes which, collectively,
have been named cytochrome P450. These enzymes catch the toxins
from blood and prepare it for the removal. It is like when we have
to pack things before mailing it to someone.
In this phase, the toxins
are converted to a more chemically active form. They can be both
free radicals, ready to destroy the liver, and cancer-causing agents,
ready to do harm to the tissues in the body. Thus, the process of
detoxification can't just stop at phase I. Phase II must also be
completed in order to make a real detoxification.
If the liver finishes
phase I but can't get rid of the toxins in time in phase II, a person
will feel like taking some sleeping pills; sleepy, lifeless, lazy,
and exhausted.
Phase II (toxin removal
stage)
Phase II detoxification
typically involves conjugation in which various enzymes in the liver
attach small chemicals to the toxin. This conjugation reaction either
neutralizes the toxin or makes the toxin more easily excreted through
the urine or bile.
Substances that activate
Phase I detoxification are caffeine, phenobarbital, and alcohol.
Therefore, coffee enema can only half stimulate the liver to work.
Nutrients needed by
phase II detoxification enzymes are sulfur, glutathione, limonene,
systeine, benzoic acid, vitamin B complex, magnesium, selenium,
and zinc. These nutrients will activate the liver to work in phase
II so that the detoxification can be complete. Hence, every time
we do the coffee enema we must activate our body to get rid of the
toxins in phase II by always eating red-unpolished rice, green vegetables,
beetroot, broccoli, all kinds of cabbages (cauliflower, purple cabbage,
star cabbage, onion, white lettuce, reddish, curcuma longa)
Herbs that activate
toxins detoxification are ginseng, dandelion, milk thristle and
artichoke, etc.

Since the process of
detoxification also needs activate agents such as caffeine for phase
I and foods for phase II, we should always keep in mind that coffee
enema can only half help.
If you want to make
the detoxification complete you must also take foods that cooked
with very green vegetables, cabbages, white lettuce, onion, and
curcuma longa.
