Foot Massage Therapy

Foot massage is not only for relaxation and health but also for disease treatment. Now, this question may come up to your mind "In what way can foot massage affect the inner organs since we only touch the outermost part of the body which is our soles?" The theory of "vibrational medicine" based on quantum can probably give the best explanation for this. As I have already talked about it 3-4 months ago, anyone interested in the article can go back and look at it.

From the beginning, the theory of foot massage therapy can be classified into 2 groups as following:

The first group is called "zone therapy" promoted by an American doctor named William Fitzgerald since 1913 and has been handed down to Joseph Corvo at present. With zone therapy, the body is divided into ten zones. These zones relate to all parts of the body from head to toes. The fingers and toes affect corresponding parts of the body and are the primary areas of treatment.

The second one called "reflexology" initiated by an American therapist named Eunice Ingham since 1938. She divided the sole into zones believing that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body. As a result, it became a chart which has been put up in front of all foot massage places. The key of the therapy is to press the spot associated to the organ you want to treat according to the chart. If it is the right spot, you will feel painful. So, just massage that spot once or many times until you are relieved.

Nevertheless, in my opinion, if foot massage therapists at present try to expand their knowledge and use other theories with the theory of foot massage, they will be able to play more important role in a medical circle. Moreover, this idea can also benefit those people who live in the countryside faraway from the hospital as foot massage needs no expense or equipments at all.

There are three more theories according to naturopathy that you should learn if you are interested in foot massage therapy.

1. Hormonal Glands Theory
2. Detoxification Theory
3. Chinese Medicine Theory

Hormonal Glands Theory

The hormonal glands are very much essential for body's balance. Deterioration of hormonal glands causes senility. There are many spots of hormonal glands on the sole. So, we can cure a lot of diseases by massaging these spots to stimulate the hormonal glands.

Pineal gland This gland is very significant since it controls other glands in the body. It contains a number of nerve vessels connecting together and hormone which give orders to the other glands. Its principal hormones are serotonin produced in the afternoon to make the cells alive and melatonin produced at night to make the cells inactive. The pineal gland is responsive to the sunlight. It works as a bio-clock for our bodies. Now, the lifestyle of people at present makes their routines reverse to the gland's function such as night shift workmen, soldiers or police, nurses, singers, actors and actresses, waitresses, pilots, stewardesses, etc. Some people have no necessity but still stay up late at night, for example, teenagers surfing the internet or housewives waiting for the soap operas. As a result, the pineal gland works in confusion and causes other glands to be dysfunctional as well. This includes unhealthy skin, wrinkle, untimely period, difficulty in having children, bad-tempered, insomnia, and deterioration in sexual ability.

Therefore, pressing a spot above the brain or the pineal gland at the sole help to adjust the work of hormone, give liveliness during the daytime and a tight sleep at night, cure exhaustion and provide energy.

Pituitary gland This gland controls the work of other glands including the thyroid gland, adrenal gland, ovaries, testes. According to the theory of yoga, the pineal gland and pituitary gland work correlatively. Massaging this spot can calm down the nerve, help to sleep, adjust menstruation, increase sexual ability, give energy, relieve depression and the symptoms before and after menstruation, chronic exhaustion, etc.

Thyroid gland controls the process of food burning. Massaging this spot helps to relieve anxiety, heart-throbbing, excitement, discontinuous menstruation, etc.

Parathyroid gland controls the level of calcium and phosphorus in blood and the work of muscles. Thus, massaging this gland helps to relax the muscles.

Thymus gland controls the immunity. It works as a school preparing the white blood cells for the reaction to protect the body. A person whose thymus gland does not work very much, he/she will have chronic infection and even take a risk of having cancer.

A foot massage therapist like Joseph Corvo gives much importance to the thymus gland. The thymus gland of a patient with high tension can be very sensitive to the stimulation. Thus, if the massager finds such patient, you should take a very good care of him. Give tenderness while you are massaging and you will find that it won't take much time for the pain to be gone and for the patient to become alive with satisfaction.

Pancreas gland Weakness of pancreas gland causes high blood sugar, exhaustion, food boredom, flatulency, and indigestion. Massaging the spot of pancreas gland helps to control blood sugar, solve the problem of chronic exhaustion and give energy.

Adrenal gland Massaging this spot helps to treat allergy, asthma, rumatoid, SLE, and hypersensitive immunity.

Sexual gland provides healthy skin, vivacity, good shape, sexual ability.

In sum, foot massage therapists should observe their patients' symptoms and choose the right hormonal glands theory to apply with the massage.
