Giving Courage to Cancer Patient
Cancer is a disease that affects the whole system of the body.
It is not the dysfunction of any organs but the failure of the whole
body which is caused by food, way of life, thoughts, and perception
of the world. By these factors, the immune system is weakened and
cancer occurs finally. At present, it has been proved that cancer
is also influenced by heredity. This means that normally our chromosomes
contain some genes with tendency for cancer. However, genetics has
also shown that there are factors which will trigger these genes such
as food and way of life.
Losing encouragement
is considered one of the major problems for cancer patients. A number
of evidences have indicated that patients with willpower can overcome
their crisis and recover very quickly.
Did you know.....
20 years ago, most doctors
usually concealed the result of diagnose from their patients. However,
as time passed by, this perception had started to change. A research
conducted by Dr. Dennis Novak published in the American Medical
Association's journal in 1979 revealed that 97% of doctors prefer
telling the truth to their patients which is contrary to the statistic
2 decades ago, more than 90% hid the truth from their patients.
In fact, most patients already realize their condition either consciously
or subconsciously.
Dr. Bernie S. Seagale,
a surgeon and the founder of cancer survivor group pointed out that
lying or trying to avoid problems can create a gap among family
members which is actually the time for unity. Patients' children
usually say to the doctor "Please don't tell my mother." But when
he asked the mother, she replied "I think I have cancer." As a result,
they can talk openly.
Ways to give encouragement…
Firstly, cousins of
the patients should realize their roles as it often appears that
the first person who loses encouragement is the cousin and they
are the one who think for the patients that if they know the truth
they will feel discouraged as well. Therefore, they are the first
who need encouragement. If cousins are in despair, how can the patients
have a spirit to fight with cancer.

b>1. From the doctor
Encouragement comes from confidence that patients have for their
doctors. The important thing is the ability in surgery, radiotherapy,
chemotherapy, or naturopathy. However, the factors that come first
is mercy, acceptance, and willingness to give time and suggestion
to their patients.
2. Find knowledge
from other sources At present, there are many sources that give
knowledge about how to treat cancer such as books or cassettes about
naturopathy in both theory and practice or books which talk about
the patients' experience. Examples of the books mentioned above
are books from Ruamtas publisher about naturopathy, Kledthai publisher
about macrobiotic, Amarin printing publisher about biotics, etc.
3. Talk to other
cancer patients This is one of the very effective ways to find
encouragement. Nowadays, there is a cancer treatment called "group
therapy" which is organized by Dr. Bernie S. Seagale, Mcgerson institute
and naturopathy course by Balavi Natural Health Center.
4. Holistic medicine
Patients should treat themselves with naturopathy while receiving
traditional medicine at the same time. In some cases, the patients
recover so quickly that they feel encouraged to continue their practice.
5. Practise religious
rites, listen to sermons, and meditate Any rites such as do
something to avert a catastrophe, sprinkle holy water on the head
or body for a blessing, etc. that patients believe to be true. If
they do it and feel encouraged, then it is useful. However, be careful
not to waste too much money with those who perform the ritual. Sometimes,
they can be tricky.
Nevertheless, in the
past, some cancer patients had changed crisis into chance by turning
to religious or living their lives with meditation. After that,
there had been reports showing their cancer was cured. This proves
that encouragement and mental power are two essential factors for
cancer treatment.
