Neck pain
The neck contains first
seven vertebrae in the spine which holds the head and the body together.
Inside of backbone sinus where the spinal cord is located, the gap
between bones and bones as well as bones and the backbone are very
narrow. If the pathogen occurs with the backbone even a little,
it might cause a serious pain to patients.
Causes
The frequently found
symptoms of the neck pain are
1. the postural
mistakes
A pillow that is too
high or too low can cause a distortion of the neck. If you sleep
with one posture through the night, you will receive the neck pain
after you woke up. The pillow that is too high causes your head
bend down as in the lying on back posture and makes you are in a
leaning neck position if you lie on your side. Meanwhile, if the
pillow is too low, your head may fall behind the back as well as
in the leaning neck and lying on back postures. But if you lie on
your side, the muscles around the neck will be distorted for a long
time and they will contract due to the distortion of pulling. As
a consequence of pain or knowing as "falling off the pillow symptom"
which is usually occur when we sleep deeply in the only sleeping
posture too long after a very tried day.
2. the nerve's tension
A stress from work makes
the nerves strained. The muscles around the head and the neck do
not relieve. This is one of the causes that usually found and always
happens in the evening after a long day of working with stress.
3. the working posture
Some works that have
to bend down or turn the head for too long can cause the neck pain.
For example, dentists who usually turn their heads towards many
patients' mouths all day long could feel pain at the neck.
4. the incoordinate
function of neck's muscles
Turning your head to
another side immediately could cause the distortion and pain. Because
most muscles cannot adjust themselves to the posture and after the
packs of muscles around the neck cannot work well together, some
packs of them may contract and inflame.
5. tumors
The tumors are one of
the bone's deterioration. It can be found in the people over 40
years old. Calcium catches and covers inside the bone which compresses
around the arm nerves area and makes tissues around inflame and
pain. Most people will suffer a splitting pain through one arm or
another or feel numb also.
6. the accidents
These are happens from
a suddenly stop. People who sit on the seat that does not have a
headrest are always receiving the neck pain. The reason is because
we cannot stop as in the same time as a car. The head will be flung
as in the bending down posture and swung back while looking up quickly
and intensely. Ligaments between joints will be inflamed or torn
out. The accident can be prevented by placing the headrest with
the seat.
7. the others diseases.
Backache, rheumatism
or even hypertension could indicate by the neck pain.
Ways to heal yourself
1. Changing a new suitable
pillow that is not too high or too low and try to sleep on it. Notice
the most natural sleeping posture of yourself from both lying on
back and side posture. In another way, you may choose to rest the
pillow only behind your neck, not the head. You can buy the pillow
or apply the bolster instead of it. This special kind of pillow
will rest the head in a relaxed pose all the night.
2. Applying a compress
with warm water around 15-20 minutes and 2-3 times a day. By using
a soaked warm towel or a hot water bag place over the pain area.
Then the muscles will relieve and reduce the pain. Moreover, the
heat helps more blood circulate to the neck and carry wastes out
of the body which makes you relieve faster.
3. Exercising the neck
Gesture 1 :
place a palm on one cheek and push the palm against the way that
you are turning to. Counting from 1- 10 and take a rest. Then follow
the same thing, but change to another side alternately.
Gesture 2 : place
a palm on a temple and push the palm against the way that you are
leaning your neck on that way. Counting from 1-10 and take a rest.
Then follow the same thing, but change to another side alternately.
Gesture 3 : place
both hand together on an occiput and try to look up while forcing
hands. Counting from 1-10 and take a rest. Then repeat it again.
Gesture 4 : place a fist under the chin and force against
it while bending down the head. Counting from 1-10 and take a
rest. Then repeat it again.
